An overnight trip to York. A good train journey and I was in York by lunchtime. The weather was a bit wet but that didn’t spoil the visit.
My first stop was the National Railway Museum. It is a free to visit the museum and it is fascinating. The museum takes you through railways and trains throughout decades. They have trains that were used by royalty and more modern trains such as the eurostar. They even have a section of the eurostar tunnel.

Following my the railway museum, I went for a walk along the walls which surround the city. There is a great cafe in one of the old wall towers. It is by the river and a great spot for lunch.

The second day involved a visit to the Jorvik museum which was excellent. It is a great museum which highlights what was excavated during the archaeological dig.
In the afternoon I went to watch the UK snooker championship which happened to be on in York at the same time as my visit. I was lucky enough to be on Trump’s table against Sean Murphy. It was really interesting to watch the sport live and be so close to the action.
